First, let me introduce Bug...she is a imaginative, creative, funny, lovable 5 year old that is the joy of my life. It seems that there is new adventure everyday! I keep saying I have to write"this" or "that" down someday. However, like most busy mothers, I never do it. Five incredible years have passed with little to no recording of all of these incredible journey's she takes us on. So after our adventure tonight, I have decided my best chance of capturing some of these incredible moments are by blog. I have other blogs, so why not have one for the love of my life?
So what is The Around the World Restaurant you ask? Well, at around 5:00, 45 minutes prior to my husband's return from work, my daughter announced we were starting a restaurant. That restaurant must be ready by the time Daddy comes home. What did this entail in her little five year old mind?
1. Mexican food (that is do-able, tacos were already planned)
2. Worldly decorations (maps, globes, flags). She raided our home school classroom!!!!
3. Worldly music: she said I needed to find a combo of jazz, blues and classic. She settled for Mexican "on demand"
4. I would not be mom, I would be madam and must be in a dress looking beautiful for Dad. Never mind the fact that I am entering my second trimester, and don't fit into any of my dresses. She said it would be okay. She would find something "that is not as tight as your jeans mom and won't squish your brains out or mush the baby"
5. Daddy would now be known as "Peter" for the night. He is name is Frank, Lord only knows where she got Peter. He must also dress up upon arrival.
6. She would be a waiter, in a combination Larry Boy/Waiter costume, which I must help her put together. I had to dig out last year's costume and combine it with some fancy clothes.
7. She set the table with "restaurant" type decorations, found her pad for taking orders, made "menus", put some Mexican hats around.
8. She put pieces of tape on the floor, so we would know where to stand when we danced together. I was informed that I must do at least 2 twirls during dancing!
9. She put a vase with a fake flower between Peter and Madam's place settings because that is what people in love do. I was informed that I must kiss Peter A LOT.
10. When Daddy arrived home, she opened the door "to greet our guest" and said "Hola".
We proceeded to get "dressed up" and boy did she look cute as the Larry boy waiter! Our evening was very formal and all directed by the waiter. Peter had to hold out my seat and kiss me while the waiter stood by patiently waiting to take our order. She then proceed to give us menu options of a made up language, with the only recognizable thing on it was "TACOS". We went with the tacos! She informed us that we must invite the waiter to eat with us, as he/she was such a good waiter!!! We ate by candlelight and danced to Mexican music. Our "waiter" then serenaded us with the guitar and maracas, while ordering us to continuing to dance. "Don't forget the twirls Madam"!!!
It was over in an hour, but was one of the best nights of our lives!!! Living with this 5 year old is truly an adventure and a gift from GOD. Nothing in this life has prepared me for these adventures. Everyday is new and exciting. I can't wait to continue this blog on the ADVENTURES WITH BUG!!!
Well, I am off to join them in the living room. It sounds like Manny, Sid and Diego from Ice Age have arrived for some after dinner fun. They are surfing on a giant ice berg between the couches!!!
